The situation in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

Almost no-one ever really expected that North Korea would gain threatening nuclear capabilities. They could barely feed themselves amid crippling international sanctions, let alone acquire sophisticated missile technology, or maintain a coherent nuclear program with such a primitive education system. And yet – here we are. The DPRK is rapidly attaining both reliable nuclear warheads and the missiles to launch them on. Can the UNSC prevent them from being launched in time, against any number of nearby nations? And if the worst does come and the regime falls in a blaze of fire, what next for the outflow of millions of refugees?
